Flash Flood Warning issued July 19 at 7:38AM CDT until July 19 at 12:45PM CDT by NWS Quad Cities IA IL
AREAS AFFECTED: Benton, IA; Buchanan, IA; Linn, IA
DESCRIPTION: At 738 AM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. 3 inches of rain in 1.5 hours was reported in Vinton. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Standing water up to six inches deep was reported in Vinton. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cedar Rapids, Vinton, Marion, Hiawatha, Mount Vernon, Robins, Jesup, Center Point, Fairfax, Ely, Atkins, Walford, Urbana, Central City, Springville, Palo, Shellsburg, Newhall, Walker and Van Horne. This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 12 and 55.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Fog is technically a type of stratus cloud, which lies along the
ground and obscures visibility.
It is usually created when humidity in the air condenses into tiny water droplets.
Because of this, some places are more prone to foggy weather, such as regions
close to a body of water.
Fog is similar to mist; both are the appearance of water droplets suspended in
the air, but fog is the term applied to the condition when visibility is less than 1 km.
