AREAS AFFECTED: Mitchell; Howard; Floyd; Chickasaw
DESCRIPTION: Funnel clouds are possible due to current atmospheric conditions. These funnel clouds are typically brief, drop only a few hundred feet from the cloud base, and rarely touch the ground. As a result, they rarely do any damage and last only a few minutes. However, if you live in the Mitchell, Howard, Floyd, and Chickasaw Counties...remain on the alert and be prepared to move to a place of safety if a funnel should approach the ground. Atmospheric conditions over eastern north central Iowa will continue to be favorable for the formation of short lived funnels through around 7 PM CDT.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and
may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud
is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.
Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall,
becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds.
When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
