AREAS AFFECTED: Coleman, TX; McCulloch, TX; Mason, TX; Menard, TX; San Saba, TX; Schleicher, TX
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Coleman, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba and Schleicher. * WHEN...Until 100 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1053 PM CDT, Due to heavy rainfall between 4 and 15 inches since last night across the warned area, flooding is ongoing and will continue through late tonight. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Brady, San Saba, Mason, Menard, Richland Springs, Paint Rock, Algerita, Cherokee, Eden, Melvin, Calf Creek, Brady Lake, Hext, Camp San Saba, Camp Air, Pear Valley, Katemcy, Salt Gap, Lohn and Long Mountain. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

Snow is precipitation taking the form of ice crystals. Each ice crystal, or snowflake,
has unique characteristics, but all of them grow in a hexagonal structure.
Snowfall can last for sustained periods of time and result in significant buildup
of snow on the ground.
On the earth's surface, snow starts out light and powdery, but as it begins to melt
it tends to become more granular, producing small bits of ice which have the consistency of
sand. After several cycles of melting and freezing, snow can become very dense
and ice-like, commonly known as snow pack.

Stratus clouds are similar to altostratus clouds, but form at a
lower altitude and are identified by their fog-like appearance, lacking the
distinguishing features of most clouds.
Stratus clouds are wider than most clouds, and their base has a smooth, uniform
look which is lighter in color than a nimbostratus cloud.
The presence of a stratus cloud indicates the possibility of minor precipitation,
such as drizzle, but heavier precipitation does not typically arrive in the form
of a stratus cloud.
