DESCRIPTION: FFWCRP The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... Northeastern Kleberg County in south central Texas... Southeastern Nueces County in south central Texas... * Until 200 AM CDT. * At 1058 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Corpus Christi, Waldron Field, Kings Crossing Subdivision, Flour Bluff, South Texas Botanical Gardens, Spohn Hospital South, Bay Area Medical Center, Corpus Christi Country Club, La Palmera Mall, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, Padre Balli Park, Driscoll Childrens Hospital, Packery Channel, Corpus Christi Naval Air Station and Chapman Ranch. Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.
