DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... South Fork San Gabriel River At Georgetown affecting Williamson County. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...South Fork San Gabriel River at Georgetown. * WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, Major lowland flooding closes many streets and roads. Much of the city park downstream floods. Lowest homes above Georgetown to Granger Lake are threatened. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:45 PM CDT Saturday the stage was 26.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 5.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 1:45 PM CDT Saturday was 33.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late tonight and continue falling to 2.5 feet early Thursday afternoon. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 27.1 feet on 11/15/2001. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and
may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud
is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.
Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall,
becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds.
When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
