DESCRIPTION: THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 171 UNTIL 4 AM CDT FRIDAY WHICH REPLACES A PORTION OF TORNADO WATCH 167. THE NEW WATCH IS VALID FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THE NEW WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN THE PANHANDLE OF TEXAS ARMSTRONG CARSON COLLINGSWORTH DONLEY GRAY HEMPHILL HUTCHINSON ROBERTS WHEELER THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BORGER, BRISCOE, CANADIAN, CLARENDON, CLAUDE, CODMAN, DOZIER, GLAZIER, GOODNIGHT, KINGSMILL, LAKE MARVIN, LELA, LORA, LUTIE, MIAMI, PAMPA, PANHANDLE, PANTEX, SAMNORWOOD, SHAMROCK, SKELLYTOWN, TWITTY, WASHBURN, WAYSIDE, WELLINGTON, WHEELER, AND WHITE DEER.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and
may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud
is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.
Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall,
becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds.
When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
