DESCRIPTION: The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a * Dust Storm Warning for... East central Luna County in southwestern New Mexico... West central Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico... * Until 900 PM MDT. * At 652 PM MDT, New Mexico State Police reported blowing dust along Interstate 10 east of Mile Marker 90. HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with strong winds up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Law enforcement. IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel. * This includes Interstate 10 in New Mexico between mile markers 90 and 128. Locations impacted include... Akela, Corralitos, Deming Ranchettes, and Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds.
INSTRUCTION: Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.

Graupel is a form of precipitation that is created by atmospheric conditions
which cause supercooled water droplets to contact snow crystals and freeze to
their surface.
Sometimes known as soft hail or snow pellets, graupel is delicate and easily
destroyed by touch. Whereas hail usually falls during severe weather, graupel
doesn't require such conditions to form, and can form in mild precipitation
similar to situations which produce snowfall.

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.
