DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kansas... Neosho River near Emporia affecting Lyon County. Cottonwood River near Emporia affecting Lyon County. Neosho River Near Neosho Rapids affecting Lyon County. Pottawatomie Creek at Lane affecting Franklin County. Pottawatomie Creek near Garnett affecting Anderson County. Marais Des Cygnes River at Ottawa affecting Franklin County. Marais Des Cygnes River near Quenemo affecting Franklin and Osage Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Pottawatomie Creek at Lane. * WHEN...Until early Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Minor low land flooding begins along the creek. At 23.5 feet, Virginia Road floods north of the bridge closing the road. At 24.0 feet, Douglas Road floods about a quarter mile northwest of Lane. At 25.0 feet, Cloud Road, also known as the road to Richmond floods. At 27.0 feet, North Kansas Avenue just north of the railroad tracks floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 25.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 25.3 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 23.0 feet.

Condensation is the process which creates clouds, and therefore it is a crucial process in the water cycle. Condensation is the change of matter from a state of gas into a state of liquid, and it happens because water molecules release heat into the atmosphere and become organized into a more closely packed structure, what we might see as water droplets.

Water is always present in the air around us as a vapor, but it's too small for us to see. When water undergoes the process of condensation it becomes organized into visible water droplets. You've probably seen condensation happen before on the surface of a cold drink!

The final form taken by a growing cumulus cloud is the cumulonimbus cloud, which is very tall and dense. The tower of a cumulonimbus cloud can soar 23 km into the atmosphere, although most commonly they stop growing at an altitude of 6 km.

Even small cumulonimbus clouds appear very large in comparison to other cloud types. They can signal the approach of stormy weather, such as thunderstorms or blizzards.
