AREAS AFFECTED: Elbert/Central and East Douglas Counties Above 6000 Feet; Central and East Adams and Arapahoe Counties; North and Northeast Elbert County Below 6000 Feet/North Lincoln County; Washington County
DESCRIPTION: At 200 AM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a snow squall along a line from 5 miles southwest of Anton to 8 miles south of Strasburg, or along a line from 33 miles south of Akron to 34 miles east of Denver, moving south at 30 mph. Locations impacted include... Limon, Deer Trail, Genoa, Agate, Cottonwood Valley, Last Chance, Woodlin School, Byers, Lindon, Strasburg and Cedar Point. Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter of a mile in this snow squall. Interstate 70
INSTRUCTION: Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this snow squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the squall passes your location.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.

A mammatus cloud is a cloud with a unique feature which resembles
a web of pouches hanging along the base of the cloud.
In the United States, mammatus clouds tend to form in the warmer months, commonly
in the Midwest and eastern regions.
While they usually form at the bottom of a cumulonimbis cloud, they can also form
under altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds. Mammatus clouds
warn that severe weather is close.
