DESCRIPTION: SVRTAE The National Weather Service in Tallahassee has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southwestern Geneva County in southeastern Alabama... Northwestern Walton County in the Panhandle of Florida... Northwestern Holmes County in the Panhandle of Florida... * Until 745 PM CDT. * At 711 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Florala to 10 miles southeast of Laurel Hill, moving east at 5 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... De Funiak Springs, Liberty, Paxton, Hacoda, Gordon, Pond Creek, Oakwood Hills, Cluster Springs, Fox Hill, Gaskin, Sand Hill, Alpine Heights, Lytle, Darlington, Marl, Glendale, Lakewood, Ganer, Flowersville, and New Harmony.
INSTRUCTION: Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Similar to cirrocumulus clouds, altocumulus clouds are
characterized by cloud patches. They are distinguished by larger cloudlets
than cirrocumulus clouds but are still smaller than stratocumulus clouds.
Altocumulus clouds most commonly form in middle altitudes (between 2 and 5 km)
and may resemble, at times, the shape of a flying saucer.
These uncommon formations, called altocumulus lenticularis, are created by uplift
in the atmosphere and are most often seen in close proximity to mountains.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
