DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... Medina River At Bandera affecting Bandera County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Medina River at Bandera. * WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, The second level of campsites flood at the Pioneer RV Park just below Highway 173 in Bandera. The lowest sites are under several feet of water. Secondary roads and low bridges flood near the Medina River and are dangerous to traffic. The lowest homes at the upper end of Medina Lake may flood depending on the level of Medina Lake. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:45 PM CDT Friday the stage was 16.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:45 PM CDT Friday was 16.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.6 feet late this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.3 feet on 12/21/1992. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground. To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.
Rain generally has a tendency to fall with less intensity over a greater period

an observable effect on rainfall, due to an effect called the urban heat island.
Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
