DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... Guadalupe River At Comfort affecting Kendall County. Guadalupe River At Kerrville affecting Kerr County. * WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Guadalupe River at Comfort. * WHEN...Until tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 35.0 feet, Disastrous flooding damages many homes above Center Point to below Comfort. Roads, bridges, and crossings are extremely dangerous to motorists entering the Guadalupe River channel. Residents of flood prone areas below Kerrville to below Comfort should prepare to evacuate as emergency officials assess the threat. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:45 AM CDT Friday the stage was 34.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:45 AM CDT Friday was 34.8 feet. - Forecast...The river will remain above flood stage with a maximum value of 33.5 feet through this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage tonight. - Flood stage is 21.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 34.9 feet on 09/16/1915. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

INSTRUCTION: Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind. As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
