Rappahannock River at Fredericksburg affecting Stafford, Spotsylvania and City of Fredericksburg independent cities. Rappahannock River at Remington affecting Fauquier and Culpeper Counties. For the Rappahannock River...including Remington, Fredericksburg, Fredericksburg...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Rappahannock River at Remington. * WHEN...Until late tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Tin Pot Run Road and Sumerduck Road near Remington are flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 4:15 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 17.0 feet, or 2.0 feet above flood stage. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 4:15 AM EDT Thursday was 17.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage late tonight and continue falling to 7.5 feet early Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 17.0 feet on 03/29/1984. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information

molecules are excited by the application of energy and turn into vapor.
In order for water to evaporate it has to be on the surface of a body of water.

A fractus cloud (scud) is a fragmented, tattered cloud which has
likely been sheared off of another cloud. They are accessory clouds, meaning they
develop from parent clouds, and are named in a way which describes the original
cloud which contained them.
Fractus clouds which have originated from cumulus clouds are referred to as
cumulus fractus, while fractus clouds which have originated from stratus clouds
are referred to as stratus fractus. Under certain conditions a fractus cloud might
merge with another cloud, or develop into a cumulus cloud, but usually a
fractus cloud seen by itself will dissipate rapidly.
They are often observed on the leading and trailing edges of storm clouds,
and are a display of wind activity.
