AREAS AFFECTED: South Central Siskiyou County; North Central and Southeast Siskiyou County; Northeast Siskiyou and Northwest Modoc Counties; Modoc County; Klamath Basin; Northern and Eastern Klamath County and Western Lake County; Central and Eastern Lake County
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...High temperatures of 95 to 100 are expected. Low temperatures will be mainly in the mid-50s to low 60s. * WHERE...Lake County and eastern Klamath County, South Central Siskiyou County, North Central and Southeast Siskiyou County, Northeast Siskiyou and Northwest Modoc Counties, Modoc County, and Klamath Basin. This includes Klamath Falls, Lakeview, Mount Shasta, and Alturas. * WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...An increased chance of heat related illness for those without access to cooling facilities. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm overnight temperatures will limit relief from hot daytime temperatures. Hot temperatures are likely to continue into mid-week.
INSTRUCTION: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Freezing rain is a condition where precipitation which has fallen in the form of
water droplets reaches temperatures which are below freezing and freezes upon
coming into contact
with surface objects. The result of this precipitation is a glaze of ice which
can be damaging to plants and man-made structures. A severe onset of freezing
rain which results in a very thick glaze of ice is known as an ice storm.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.
