AREAS AFFECTED: Kimble, TX; Sutton, TX
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Kimble and Sutton. * WHEN...Until 330 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1134 AM CDT, National Weather Service radar indicated moderate to occasionally heavy rain spreading north across much of Kimble County, and across southern and eastern parts of Sutton County. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected through 3 PM, with up to 2 inches possible at a few locations. Since this rain is falling on already saturated ground, Minor flooding is expected in the advisory area. Low water crossings could become flooded, and street flooding may develop in Junction. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Junction, Roosevelt, Telegraph, South Llano River State Park, Segovia, Yates Crossing, London, I-10 Near The Sutton-kKmble County Line, Cleo, Us-377 Near The Kimble-Edwards County Line, Us-83 Near The Kerr-Kimble County Line, The Intersection Of I-10 And Us 290, I-10 Near The Kimble-Kerr County Line, Us-277 Near The Sutton-Edwards County Line and The Intersection Of Us-277 And Ranch Road 189. - This includes Interstate 10 between Mile Markers 411 and 477. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.

Precipitation in the form of water droplets is called rain.
Rain generally has a tendency to fall with less intensity over a greater period
of time, and when rainfall is more severe it is usually less sustained.
Rain is the most common form of precipitation and happens with greater frequency
depending on the season and regional influences. Cities have been shown to have
an observable effect on rainfall, due to an effect called the urban heat island.
Compared to upwind, monthly rainfall between twenty and forty miles downwind of
cities is 30% greater.
