Flood Warning issued April 26 at 8:10PM CDT until April 27 at 12:00PM CDT by NWS Norman OK
AREAS AFFECTED: Caddo, OK; Comanche, OK; Cotton, OK; Kiowa, OK; Tillman, OK
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southwest Oklahoma, including the following counties, Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Kiowa and Tillman. * WHEN...Until noon CDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 806 PM CDT, Emergency management reported flooding continuing to occur in the warned area. Between 4 and 8 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lawton, Frederick, Walters, Cache, Elgin, Apache, Snyder, Geronimo, Fletcher, Cyril, Grandfield, Temple, Sterling, Cement, Chattanooga, Randlett, Mountain Park, Medicine Park, Indiahoma and Manitou. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Snow is precipitation taking the form of ice crystals. Each ice crystal, or snowflake,
has unique characteristics, but all of them grow in a hexagonal structure.
Snowfall can last for sustained periods of time and result in significant buildup
of snow on the ground.
On the earth's surface, snow starts out light and powdery, but as it begins to melt
it tends to become more granular, producing small bits of ice which have the consistency of
sand. After several cycles of melting and freezing, snow can become very dense
and ice-like, commonly known as snow pack.

Stratus clouds are similar to altostratus clouds, but form at a
lower altitude and are identified by their fog-like appearance, lacking the
distinguishing features of most clouds.
Stratus clouds are wider than most clouds, and their base has a smooth, uniform
look which is lighter in color than a nimbostratus cloud.
The presence of a stratus cloud indicates the possibility of minor precipitation,
such as drizzle, but heavier precipitation does not typically arrive in the form
of a stratus cloud.
