DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Minnesota... Minnesota River at Granite Falls HWY 212 affecting Renville, Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Minnesota... Minnesota River at Morton affecting Renville and Redwood Counties. Minnesota River at Montevideo affecting Lac qui Parle, Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties. .After the widespread rain over the last few days, we expect to see a gradual increase in flow over the mainstem Minnesota River. As such, flooding is expected to continue until we see a prolonged period of dry weather. The expectation with the upcoming rainfall is several other forecast points eventually reaching action and or flood stage over the next several days. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Minnesota River at Morton. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Fleischer Rd flooded in North Redwood; storm sewers closed off and bypass pumping begins. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 800 PM CDT Thursday, the stage was 22.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 800 PM CDT Thursday was 22.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.5 feet Saturday evening. - Flood stage is 21.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 24.4 feet on 03/31/2009.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
