AREAS AFFECTED: Piatt; Champaign; Macon; Moultrie; Douglas
DESCRIPTION: At 712 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Bondville, or 7 miles southwest of Champaign, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Champaign, Decatur, Urbana, Monticello, Tuscola, Savoy, Mount Zion, St. Joseph, Tolono, Villa Grove, Arthur, Bement, Philo, Cerro Gordo, Long Creek, Sidney, Atwood, Lovington, Pesotum, and Dalton City. This includes the following highways... Interstate 57 between mile markers 208 and 238. Interstate 72 between mile markers 176 and 182. Interstate 74 between mile markers 177 and 195.
INSTRUCTION: If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an
aircraft.
Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended
in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails
are called exhaust contrails.
Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure
moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation.
These are called aerodynamic contrails.
When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation.
The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is
because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.
