Beach Hazards Statement issued July 5 at 9:28PM CDT until July 7 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
AREAS AFFECTED: Milwaukee; Racine; Kenosha
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Life threatening waves of 4 to 6 feet and dangerous currents are expected. * WHERE...Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties. * WHEN...From late Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected due to high waves and northerly onshore winds. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Northerly exposed beaches, piers, and/or breakwalls will be most vulnerable to these dangerous currents. Additionally moderate swim risk conditions expected for Sheboygan and Ozaukee county beaches for gusty northerly winds and waves building up to around 3 feet during a similar timeframe.
INSTRUCTION: Stay out of the water and away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls. Strong structural and longshore currents are expected. Rip currents are possible.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.

A mammatus cloud is a cloud with a unique feature which resembles
a web of pouches hanging along the base of the cloud.
In the United States, mammatus clouds tend to form in the warmer months, commonly
in the Midwest and eastern regions.
While they usually form at the bottom of a cumulonimbis cloud, they can also form
under altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds. Mammatus clouds
warn that severe weather is close.
