DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast New Mexico, including the following areas, in central New Mexico, South Central Mountains. In north central New Mexico, East Slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. In northeast New Mexico, Northeast Highlands. This includes Ruidoso and the burn scars surrounding the village as well as areas within and downstream of the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon burn scar. * WHEN...Until midnight MDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Slow moving thunderstorms with rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will create a high risk for burn scar flash flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/abq/EmergencyPrepFlood

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.

Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall, becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds. When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
