DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Heat index values up to 103 expected. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Minnesota, and eas,t North Dakota. * WHEN...From 11 AM to 7 PM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
INSTRUCTION: Take extra precautions when outside. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids without caffeine or alcohol. Take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Be aware of signs indicating heat illness. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. If you do not have air conditioning in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the heat.

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.

Cirrostratus clouds are high, thin clouds that form above
20,000 feet and are made mostly of ice crystals. They sometimes look like giant
feathers, horse tails, or curls of hair in the sky.
These clouds are pushed by the jet stream and can move at high speeds reaching
100 mph.
What do they indicate?
They indicate that a precipitation is likely within 24 hours.
