AREAS AFFECTED: Door; Southern Oconto County
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 12 and 18 inches with localized totals in excess of 24 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Door and Southern Oconto counties. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 10 PM this evening to 1 PM CDT Friday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Saturday evening through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...For the Winter Weather Advisory, plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing and drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. For the Winter Storm Watch, the strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Whiteout and near blizzard conditions are possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
INSTRUCTION: Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on the situation for Saturday night into Monday. People should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
