DESCRIPTION: ...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHEAST OREGON WITH GUSTY WINDS ON WEDNESDAY EVENING... A frontal passage will bring isolated to scattered thunderstorms with minimal precipitation over the BLM districts of Southwest Idaho and Southeast Oregon. Strong outflow winds up to 55 MPH is possible. The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from 3 PM Wednesday to midnight MDT Wednesday night. * AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zones 400 Northern Boise BLM, 420 Treasure Valley BLM, 423 Owyhee Mountains, 424 Western Twin Falls BLM and 426 Southern Highlands. * TIMING...From 3 PM Wednesday to midnight MDT Wednesday night. * THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered. * OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty and erratic winds up to 55 mph. * IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.

Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall, becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds. When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
