DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Kansas... Marais Des Cygnes River at La Cygne affecting Linn County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Marais Des Cygnes River at La Cygne. * WHEN...Until early Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, Low lying farmland and other rural land floods. At 30.0 feet, Highway 152 floods 0.75 miles west of La Cygne. If Middle Creek is also flooding Highway 152, the only route into or out of La Cygne will be the County Road, or 4th Street, leading north from La Cygne. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 29.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 30.3 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage early Sunday afternoon. - Flood stage is 25.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

A hole punch cloud is an unusual occurrence when a disk-shaped
hole appears in a cirrostratus, cirrocumulus, or altocumulus cloud.
When part of the cloud forms ice crystals, water droplets in the surrounding area
of the cloud evaporate. The effect of this process produces a large elliptical
gap in the cloud. The hole punch cloud formation is rare, but it is not specific
to any geographic area.
Other names which have been used to describe this phenomena include fallstreak hole,
skypunch, and cloud hole.

A nimbostratus cloud is similar to a stratus cloud in its formless,
smooth appearance. However, a nimbostratus cloud is darker than a stratus cloud,
because it is thicker.
Unlike a stratus cloud, a nimbostratus cloud typically brings with it the threat
of moderate to heavy precipitation. In some cases, the precipitation may evaporate
before reaching the ground, a phenomenon known as virga.
