DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Texas... Llano River Near Mason affecting Mason County. For the Llano River...including Junction, Mason...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Llano River near Mason. * WHEN...Until tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding will occur. Secondary roads and low water crossings will be flooded and impassible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:45 AM CDT Friday the stage was 21.6 feet. - Bankfull stage is 11.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:45 AM CDT Friday was 21.6 feet. - Forecast...The river will oscillate around flood stage with a maximum value of 23.4 feet this afternoon. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 24.1 feet on 07/24/2024. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
INSTRUCTION: Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its flood stage. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued late tonight at 1215 AM CDT.

A mammatus cloud is a cloud with a unique feature which resembles
a web of pouches hanging along the base of the cloud.
In the United States, mammatus clouds tend to form in the warmer months, commonly
in the Midwest and eastern regions.
While they usually form at the bottom of a cumulonimbis cloud, they can also form
under altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds. Mammatus clouds
warn that severe weather is close.

Precipitation can refer to many different forms of water that
may fall from clouds. Precipitation occurs after a cloud has become saturated to
the point where its water particles are more dense than the air below the cloud.
In most cases, precipitation will reach the ground, but it is not uncommon for
precipitation to evaporate before it reaches the earth's surface.
When precipitation evaporates before it contacts the ground it is called Virga.
Graupel, hail, sleet, rain, drizzle, and snow are forms of precipitation, but fog
and mist are not considered precipitation because the water vapor which
constitutes them isn't dense enough to fall to the ground.
