Red River of the North at Fargo affecting Clay and Cass Counties. .Recent heavy rainfall in the southern Red River Valley is leading to increased river levels along the Red River in Fargo. For the Red River...including Fargo...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Red River of the North at Fargo. * WHEN...Until Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, MINOR FLOOD. Elm St between 14th and 15th Ave N is closed (Fargo). Storm sewer pump stations are beginning to operate (Fargo). * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:15 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 18.1 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:15 AM CDT Tuesday was 18.1 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.5 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

INSTRUCTION: Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Safety message - Turn around, don't drown. A contrail is an artificial cloud, created by the passing of an aircraft.

Contrails form because water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines is suspended in the air under certain temperatures and humidity conditions. These contrails are called exhaust contrails.

Another type of contrail can form due to a temporary reduction in air pressure moving over the plane's surface, causing condensation. These are called aerodynamic contrails.

When you can see your breath on a cold day, it is also because of condensation. The reason contrails last longer than the condensation from your breath is because the water in contrails freezes into ice particles.
