DESCRIPTION: ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kansas... Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...Until just after midnight tonight. * IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Flooding of agricultural lands can be expected with bank overflows on west side of river. West Chestnut Avenue west of the river floods, expect road closure. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 11.8 feet and falling. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this afternoon and continue gradually falling to around 7 feet late Tuesday. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
INSTRUCTION: Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued this evening at 900 PM CDT.

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.
