DESCRIPTION: ...The National Weather Service in Wichita KS has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Kansas... Mulberry Creek Near Salina affecting Saline County. Smoky Hill River Near Mentor affecting Saline and McPherson Counties. Smoky Hill River At Lindsborg affecting McPherson County. Smoky Hill River near New Cambria affecting Saline County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Smoky Hill River near New Cambria. * WHEN...From Wednesday afternoon to late Friday morning. * IMPACTS...At 30.0 feet, Niles Road south of Stimmel Road near the gage site begins to flood. Also expect extensive flooding of low-lying areas and croplands. Within the city the following roads become flooded, Railroad Street and Mill Street, First Street and Second Street and Cunningham. Dependent on high flows coming down from Saline River, Old Highway 40 may flood about a foot deep from Simpson Road to Niles Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:45 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 5.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 30.3 feet Thursday morning. It will then fall below flood stage late Thursday evening. - Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
INSTRUCTION: Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued this evening at 945 PM CDT.

A wall cloud forms underneath the base of a cumulonimbus cloud,
and can be a hotbed for deadly tornadoes.
Wall clouds are formed by air flowing into the cumulonimbus clouds, which can
result in the wall cloud descending from the base of the cumulonimbus cloud, or
rising fractus clouds which join to the base of the storm cloud as the wall cloud
takes shape.
Wall clouds can be very large, and in the Northern Hemisphere they generally
form at the southern edge of cumulonimbus clouds.

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.
