DESCRIPTION: SVRMFR The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a * Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Southwestern Siskiyou County in northern California... * Until 700 PM PDT. * At 635 PM PDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles south of Nordheimer Campground, or 12 miles southeast of Orleans, moving west at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Siskiyou County.
INSTRUCTION: For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes
(between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes
water vapor
to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are
featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.
In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved
appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds
are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.

Cirrostratus clouds are high, thin clouds that form above
20,000 feet and are made mostly of ice crystals. They sometimes look like giant
