DESCRIPTION: ...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Virginia... Maryland... Potomac River at Edwards Ferry affecting Northwest Montgomery, Western Loudoun and Eastern Loudoun zones. For the Potomac River...including Paw Paw, Hancock, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Point of Rocks, Edwards Ferry, Little Falls... flooding is possible. * WHAT...Flooding is possible. * WHERE...Potomac River at Edwards Ferry. * WHEN...From late Wednesday night until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, The basements of the Edwards Ferry Lockhouse and Rileys Lockhouse are flooded. Backwater flooding may affect homes on the Loudoun County side of the river near Broad Run in Sterling. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:45 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 5.7 feet, or 9.3 feet below flood stage. - Forecast...Flood stage may be reached early Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information

The final form taken by a growing cumulus cloud is the cumulonimbus cloud, which is very tall and dense. The tower of a cumulonimbus cloud can soar 23 km into the atmosphere, although most commonly they stop growing at an altitude of 6 km.

Even small cumulonimbus clouds appear very large in comparison to other cloud types. They can signal the approach of stormy weather, such as thunderstorms or blizzards.

Drizzle is precipitation in the form of water droplets which are smaller than raindrops.

Drizzle is characterized by fine, gently falling droplets and typically does not impact human habitation in a negative way. The exception to this is freezing drizzle, a condition where drizzle freezes immediately upon reaching earth's surface. Freezing drizzle is still less dangerous than freezing rain, but can potentially result in hazardous road conditions.
