Beach Hazards Statement issued July 4 at 3:37PM EDT until July 6 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Grand Rapids MI
AREAS AFFECTED: Mason; Oceana; Muskegon
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions expected. Piers may be heavily swamped by waves. * WHERE...Mason, Oceana and Muskegon counties. * WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can sweep people off piers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Pere Marquette Park Beach will be especially hazardous on Saturday afternoon, and then will switch to Stearns Park, Mears State Park, and Muskegon State Park on Sunday as winds change to the NW.
INSTRUCTION: Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local authorities on potential beach closures.

Cumulus clouds are fluffy and textured with rounded tops, and
may have flat bottoms. The border of a cumulus cloud
is clearly defined, and can have the appearance of cotton or cauliflower.
Cumulus clouds form at low altitudes (rarely above 2 km) but can grow very tall,
becoming cumulus congestus and possibly the even taller cumulonimbus clouds.
When cumulus clouds become taller, they have a greater chance of producing precipitation.
