AREAS AFFECTED: Ashland, OH; Holmes, OH; Knox, OH; Morrow, OH; Richland, OH
DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Ohio, including the following counties, in north central Ohio, Ashland, Knox, Morrow and Richland. In northeast Ohio, Holmes. * WHEN...Until 1100 AM EDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise or remain elevated due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1001 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms last evening and this evening. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen since yesterday evening. - Flooding impacts will continue, but any additional rainfall amounts will be light. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mansfield, Mount Gilead, Ontario, Lexington, Crestline, Loudonville, Fredericktown, Cardington, Bellville, Hayesville, Glenmont, Nashville, Waterford, Butler, Perrysville, Lucas, Jeromesville, Edison, Mifflin and Gann. - Flooding is ongoing for several area rivers and creeks. Flooding has been reported on the Black Fork of the Mohican River near Loudonville and near Charles Mill Lake. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information.
INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.

Hail is a form of precipitation which is recognized by large solid balls or
clumps of ice. Hail is created by thunderstorm clouds with strong updrafts of wind.
As the hailstones remain in the updraft, ice is deposited onto them until their
weight becomes heavy enough for them to fall to the earth's surface.
Hail storms can cause significant damage to crops, aircrafts, and man-made structures,
despite the fact that the duration is usually less than ten minutes.

A mammatus cloud is a cloud with a unique feature which resembles
a web of pouches hanging along the base of the cloud.
In the United States, mammatus clouds tend to form in the warmer months, commonly
in the Midwest and eastern regions.
While they usually form at the bottom of a cumulonimbis cloud, they can also form
under altostratus, altocumulus, stratocumulus, and cirrus clouds. Mammatus clouds
warn that severe weather is close.
